KidArt is a well-established after school fine art multi-media program for elementary school age children. KidArt was started in 1992 in Washington State. With the help of trained artists, children are taught about the works of master artists and art movements and encouraged to develop their creativity using student-grade and professional-grade materials. In this ongoing program the joy of individual expression is nurtured and celebrated with each young artist.

Joyce Taylor Homan, director & instructor, is an artist and certified teacher. She has a B.A. in English & Education and studied fine art and graphic design at the Corcoran School of Art & Design in Washington, D.C. She started KidARt in Washington State in 1992 in response to the lack of art education in the curriculum at the elementary school level.
In addition to developing an extensive multi-media curriculum over the years for use in her classes, Joyce has trained artists to teach her program in Washington State, Colorado, Virginia and Maryland. Artists teaching after-school art programs are continuing her work in Washington State and Colorado and KidARt is in the process of being expanded in Virginia and Maryland.

Rebecca C. Adams, instructor, recently joined KidARt bringing to the program a wide range of skills and abilities. An artist who graduated from Smith College with a BA in Fine Art and a Music minor, Rebecca is well-versed in many disciplines and materials: sculpture (woodworking, hot metal techniques, mold-making and casting methods), installation, photography, as well as digital video and music. She draws from contemporary artists and artworks to provide a lively, diverse process-oriented experience for her students.

Barbara Jean Moore, instructor, is an artist and writer of children’s stories. She has a degree in Fine Arts from Virginia Intermont University and has taught art both privately and in the classroom for over 14 years. She brings to the classroom a unique vision of art and shares her love of story and color with her students.
